radishes / rabanos
Oaxaca is known for this tradition, which has been going on since 1897.
There were so many more, but I didn't have the patience to wait for hours on a line to enter and pass them from a sort of viewing ramp ... so in-between the viewers on the ramp, I shot these.
I'd love to see it! The artisans grow them especially large expressly for this purpose -- actually they grown them to all shapes and sizes -- using the small ones as mushroom tops or florettes, etc.
